Good footage of British soldiers in bayonet practise and gas attack drill.
Army Training - bayonet practise and gas attack.
World War One. British soldiers in trench (not elaborate big trench; more like a ditch). Soldiers climb up w/ bayonets on rifles; run to right. Shot of sacks hanging from logs joined together at ends on top of poles about 8-9' high; these are placed at intervals across field. Soldiers run toward these from BG; stabbing sacks w/ bayonets (also stab other sacks on ground).
Then; a shot of a ditch w/ 1 steep side; dug into ground; soldiers come jumping off & stab bags lying on ground there a few feet after the drop-off. Then; all of this is repeated. Another shot ditch curving in field; smoke rises from it. Some soldiers in gas masks walking through the trench. MS (chronologically earlier) soldiers putting on gas masks; which just look like light coloured bags over their heads.
Poison gas; mustard gas; etc. drill.
