    No title card. Armistice Day in Dublin, Eire (Southern Ireland, Republic of Ireland).

    L/S of Wellington Monument in Phoenix Park, tilt down to show huge crowds and a Celtic Cross World War One memorial in the foreground. L/S of men in crowd all taking their hats off - signalling beginning of minutes silence. Various shots of crowd, some carry banner reading - 'British Ex-servicemen, St. James' Gate Brewery' - , others wave large Union Jack. A lot of war veterans wearing medals stand at front of crowd. There are also a group of young men in dark shirts and hats - representatives of unidentified organisation. M/S of some of the crowd laying wreaths on memorial. C/U of man holding up a little boy on his shoulder. The little boy wears medals on a military style jacket - belonging to father?

    I am currently researching this period in Ireland's history. This is a fantastic piece of film made all the more poignant in that my Grandfather survived the carnage of the war to live until 1964.

    Many thanks for your preservation of such footage.
