    A man in a cap meets and chats to swimmers. He rubs one man's tummy in a warm up gesture. The swimmer is well greased. Swimmers enter the water watched by crowds lining the shore. The handsome Jack Dempsey, holding a watch, raises a pistol, and starts the race. A swimmer heading out into the bay is preceded by a flotilla of rowing boats. C/U of swimmers in the water. The winner swims into shot followed by a rowing boat. An onlooker on the jetty reaches out to help him, the sun glinting off the water, as he is helped onto the jetty. Poses for photo wrapped in towels, looking shell shocked and cold.
