    American Army Forces in France - 1917 - 1918.

    Red Cross Nurse being decorated by French officer. Aerial view flying over barracks (?) and houses / residential area. Soldiers stand around by artillery guns; may be resting en route. American soldier with massive gun.

    Back to the decoration ceremony (outdoor): others receive French medals. CU nurse showing her medal. Children by fallen statue - maybe one of the German statues in Alsace torn down when towns were liberated. French kids running along beside US army trucks driving through square; some kids jump on for a ride.

    CU (German?) newspaper with map (illegible). CU two US government officials looking at some document - Colonel EM. House & (possibly) Brand Whitlock - on steps of building. CU Colonel House. C/U of 'Le Courier' newspaper (cannot read any headlines).

    Soldier pulling a live mule on rope from river. Village children surround two American soldiers; walking down street; the kids carry French and Italian flags. ECU Hand holding carrier pigeon with only one leg.

    Refugees (?) walking up dirt road in country; soldiers stand at right. Flag on tall pole in front of house - looks like French flag dyed dark colour. Pan down to group of villagers with soldiers - they break into applause. L/S of USA flag in window; pan down to villagers standing outside the building. Troops working at timber yard (? - railway, docks?).

    According to paperwork, this is footage from ON 253 B and ON 253 E.
