• Short Summary

Problems with the launching of a new Lifeboat - they end up pushing the boat into the sea.

  • Description

Full title reads: "Walmer. All's Well That Ends Well. Lord Reading - at launch of new motor lifeboat specially constructed for Goodwin Sands Branch. Angry seas, wild wet weather and a mishap, made it a 'stormy' Baptism!"

    Walmer, Kent.

Lord Reading (Sir Gerald Rufus Isaacs) shelters under an umbrella as he makes speech about new lifeboat. Shots of lifeboat and crew. Unidentified lady pulls cord to launch the lifeboat.

The Walmer lifeboat slides down the slipway - it starts off okay and then tilts and comes to a halt. Men have to push and tug on ropes to get the boat down to the sea. Finally and to great applause the RNLI (Royal National Lifeboat Institution) Boat makes its way into the sea.
