• Short Summary

Alick Maclean and his Orchestra play for holiday makers on the sea front at Scarborough.

  • Description

Titles read: "Famous Conductors & Orchestras. Alick Maclean and his Orchestra, Scarborough. Thousands of Queen's Hall devotees and Broadcast listeners, have seen and heard this well-known Northern Conductor. Here is the first talkie picture of him and his Orchestra."

    Scarborough, North Yorkshire.

Various shots of Alick Maclean and his Spa Orchestra playing in a bandstand on the prom at Scarborough. A large crowd sitting in deck chairs (and wearing hats and coats) sits listening. Story is intercut with views of the sea, people looking out at the coastline and listening to the music. Good footage of seaside entertainment of a more classy type in the 1930s.

Note: According to paperwork, the orchestra is playing a piece called 'Mignon'.
