    Cataloguers note: This story came after five years of the 'War of Independence' which pitted France against Algeria's National Liberation Front (FLN) In total, the war lasted seven bitter years, during which at least 100,000 Muslim and 10,000 French soldiers died. Algeria gained its independence on the 3rd July, 1962.
