New York, United States of America (USA). Boxers Randolph Turpin and Sugar Ray Robinson speak about their fight.
CU Randolph Turpin (for title scene.) MS Turpin shaking hands with boxing personalities (2 shots) CU Turpin speaking into mike:- "Well, to my people back home and all the British people, I'd like you to know that I did my best, but it seems that this time I just wasn't good enough. When the referee stopped the fight last night I knew what I was doing, and I knew that I'd been down for a count of seven, it was a surprise really but it's no good arguing with the referee 'cos his decision is final. I'm very sad that I shan't be taking the middleweight champion ship of the World, back to England with me, but when I go back I shall be taking back something greater than the championship of the World for I shall be taking with me the good wishes of thousands of the American people who were at that show last night, and the people that I met while I was over there".
MS Sugar Ray Robinson speaking:- "As a fighter Turpin is about one of the best I've ever met, As a gentlemen he's a wonderful fella, to those who haven't had the pleasure of knowing him, Randy is the most regular guy anyone could wish to meet, I only hope that he has as an enjoyable time in America and New York, as I had when I was in England, and I would love to have an opportunity to show him around here in New York City".
