Felix the Cat stands outside a circus tent being stroked by a man smoking a pipe. Meanwhile, an elephant is having a snooze. A mouse suddenly appears peeking out over the top of a bucket. He spots the elephant, clambers up its trunk then does a little dance on its head. The mouse slides down the elephant's back then bounces on its tail. The elephant wakes up and looks very surprised. The mouse slides down the elephant's trunk then puts his fists up as if angling for a fight. The elephant looks very angry and breaks the rope that is tethering him to a post. He runs after the mouse. The elephant knocks over the man who is stroking Felix. Felix and the man look very surprised and the stool the man was sitting on runs off. The tent billows and strains against the ropes as the elephant and mouse fight inside. Suddenly the elephant bursts through the wall of the tent. The elephant runs off and the man with the pipe starts to cry.
"It's that doggone mouse again!" he shouts. Felix consoles him then goes over to the tent. He pokes his head inside and spots the mouse. The mouse throws the bucket at Felix scoring a direct hit. Felix is trapped inside the bucket and tries to get out. When he eventually throws off the bucket he looks really angry. He runs back into the tent and begins to chase the mouse. He chases him around the roof of the tent. The mouse goes inside a garden hose. Felix stands on top of him. Felix then plans to turn the water on to force the mouse out but the mouse crawls out when he isn't looking and turns the end of the hose towards Felix. Thus Felix gets soaked and propelled towards a tree trunk where he he hits his head.
Felix chases the mouse up a post and onto telephone wires. The mouse cuts a wire and Felix falls off. Felix throws a stone at the mouse. It misses and the mouse sticks his tongue out. Felix shakes his fist and runs off. He comes back with a bird. Then he constructs a see saw with a piece of flat wood and a tree branch. The mouse jumps down onto the wood, then Felix jumps down on the other end propelling the mouse into the air and into the bird's open mouth. Felix runs back to the circus. He says to the man with the pipe "I settled his hash!"
The circus man asks "But for the love of Mike where is the elephant?" Felix runs off to look for the elephant. A question mark appears in the air and Felix climbs on top of it for a better view of the countryside. He paces backwards and forwards thinking. He comes up with an idea: "I'll find him... I'll make a noise like a mouse!!" He squeaks. A tree shivers (the elephant is inside). Felix makes a lasso. He lassos the elephant and pulls him out of the tree through a knothole. Felix then grabs his trunk and hauls him off. The elephant walks along with Felix sitting on his trunk. "Home James!" he commands. End.
