  • Short Summary

Nice footage of a steam train which carries only milk winding its way through the countryside.

  • Description

"Hidden away in the heart of the Manifold Valley, Derbyshire, runs a queer little railway, whose traffic is just milk." M/S of a train pulling into a station. Good shot of the train truck or rolling stock being pushed along the track by three men - the words "Stoke on Trent" are just visible. M/S of the truck moving away from the camera with a man standing on the footplate at the back. Travelling shot from on board the train at the back - milk churns are seen. Engine driver leans out as the train moves along.

Shot of the engine letting off steam as the train moves along. "For over four miles the Railway winds its way through this fertile valley." Train emerges from a tunnel then carries on through the countryside. Various shots from different places aboard the train. "Thor's Cave" where, the old Legend whispers, the great God lived." "Thor's Cave and Wetton" - C/U of the station sign. Landscape shot showing the cave. High angle shot of the train travelling through the landscape.

Was an item in Eve's Film Review issue number 627.

Note: very nicely shot film. Quintessential steam train stuff.
