• Short Summary

Baby Pearl Levey does a little dance for us.

  • Description

Titles read: "A Dancing Prodigy - Baby Pearl Levey, hardly 2 1/2 years old, but born with the spirit of dance in her tiny feet."

    London (probably Pathe Studio).

M/S of toddler Pearl Levey standing next to a crouching man. He asks her "Do you love dancing?" and she says something I can't make out, but I think it means yes.

Various shots then show Pearl doing a little dance in the studio. A circle has been marked out on the floor, but she often dances outside it (not always in camera range!) - it is quite funny! At the end of the number she runs off, towards the camera.

    (Followed by Pathetone end titles.)

Pearl Levey was and still is my aunt. She is my late fathers sister. The man at the beginning of the clip was her father Ted Levey and it wouldn\'t have surprised me if it wasn\'t her Mother Belle Levey playing the piano. Pearls Parents were both dancing teachers and had a dancing school before the war in Newcastle and later in Sunderland, where they also produced shows to keep up the spirits during WW11.
Pearl herself became a dancing teacher and for over 50 years in Gants Hill Ilford had her own dancing school which produced many proficient young dancer. At the date of writing in 2017 she is still a sprightly 90 year old with a great zest for life. Music has been her entire life, a talent which she has passed on to her children and grandchildren
