  • Description

The fifth international conference of the Anti-Communist League is being held in Manila. It was opened yesterday (Thursday) by President Ferdinand Marcos. More than 200 delegates from 42 countries are taking part in the four-day conference."
A small group of student demonstrators protested against the conference, accusing it of connections with the American Central Intelligence Agency. They accused one of the delegates, Miss Juanita Castro, sister of the Cuban Premier, or being a CIA agent.

President Marcos said that accommodation with Communist nations was a natural progression of human affairs - and perhaps even inevitable in the light of current events. He, for one, believed in co-existence. 'We cannot escape the reality of the Communist world,' he said.

The conference is expected to pass resolutions condemning international communism and declaring its support for Taiwan's seating at the United Nations.
