King Feisal of Saudi Arabia arrived in Tokyo yesterday (Thursday, May 20) to become the first Arab Head of State to visit Japan. He is making a six-day State visit to Japan. On the way he stopped in Taiwan for a three-day visit.
The King was greeted at Tokyo airport by Emperor Hirohito and Japanese officials including the Prime Minister, Mr. Sato.
Five hundred people were at the airport to welcome the King. He is visiting Japan at the invitation of the Emperor.
SYNOPSIS: Japan receives its first visit from an Arab Head of State. King Feisal of Saudi Arabia arrived in Tokyo on Thursday to begin an official six-day tour of the country.
The King was greeted at the airport by Emperor Hirohito. It was the Emperor who invited the King to make the visit. The Japanese Prime Minister, Mr. Sato was also there to greet the King.
King Feisal was first invited to Japan fifteen years ago when he was Crown Prince, and the invitation was renewed in 1969. A crowd of five hundred people were at the airport to greet the monarch. King Feisal is to have talks with the Emperor and Prime Minister on mutual relations between their two countries and on international issues.
