    Background: Colonel Afrifa, the officer of the Ghana National Liberation Council in charge of trade, finance and economic affairs, took advantage of a visit to the Accra International Trade Fair on Friday to appeal to Ghanaian businessmen to establish their own companies, and cease playing the roles of petty traders and hawkers.

    After visiting the fair stands Colonel Afrifa told reporters that the fair should encourage Ghanaians to boost their trade and assist in the improvement of the nation's economy.

    Colonel Afrifa spent two hours at the fair, inspecting various local and international exhibits.

    Among the countries which have stands at the fair are Britain, the United States of America, East Germany, Norway, Japan and short-term African nations.

    Colonel Afrifa showed keen interest in a pavilion being erected to house exhibits from the Kumasi University of Science and Technology. It is being built by twenty students under the supervision of two of the University's lecturers in architecture.
