  • Description

Paul Christopher, a 19 year old high school student, who organized a pro Vietnam war demonstration in Wakefield, Massachusetts Sunday (October 29), told the 25,000 persons who turned out, that he supports the U.S. troops in Vietnam. His remarks set off thunderous applause from the flag waving demonstrators.

The demonstrators also listened to speeches by Massachusetts Governor John Volpe, other dignitaries, waved flags, cheered and sang.

The Wakefield high school student, a former school dropout who returned to high school, told newsmen he considered the demonstration a complete success. He described it as a gesture of support for American servicemen in Viet Nam and said it was not held "to take sides n whether we should be in Viet Nam". Mr. Christopher said he organized the demonstration because an anti-Viet Nam rally in Boston, Massachusetts, eight miles from Wakefield angered him.
