Background: At the end of the second day of her visit to Northern Ireland, Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother, attended a gala performance of the Royal Ballet in Belfast. This morning cheering crowds lined the streets as the Queen Mother drove to the harbour to open a million-pound extension. On her arrival she was presented to the Chairman of the harbour commissioners, Sir Kenneth Sinclair. And inside one of the new sheds some one-thousand guests heard the Queen Mother open the new Sinclair wharf and pay tribute to the fine quality of Northern Ireland's products.
After the ceremony, the Queen Mother toured the harbour area by launch, and she was shown the completed first stage of a development scheme that will cost four-and-a-half million pounds.
