  • Description

Transport ministers from the 12 member nations of Air Afrique opened a meeting in Abidjan, Ivory Coast yesterday.

Speaking at the beginning of the conference, the Ivory Coast Minister of Transport and Public Works, M. Grah Kadji, said that the airline must seek ways and means of adapting to the future.

Without this, Mr Kadji said, Air Afrique faced certain problems which could lead to its collapse. The Minister mentioned the supersonic aircraft being developed and the increasing debts of member countries which caused difficulties with loans from outside states. He also referred to the erosion of Air Afriques airspace because member nations were according traffic rights to foreign airlines "without taking into account the interest of Air Afrique."
The present meeting was due to end on Saturday (10 Oct) and the airline's General Assembly follows on the 12th.
