    The Deputy Representative of the banned African National Congress of South Africa (ANC), John Dube, was buried at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross in Lusaka, capital of Zambia, on Saturday (February 23rd). He was killed on February 12th when a parcel bomb exploded at Lusaka's Liberation Centre which houses various liberation movement fighting in Southern Africa.

    Hundreds of mourners attended the service including men and women in black satin trousers and tee shirts; the Sunday Times of Zambia described them as freedom fighters.

    The day after the funeral, the Commander in Chief of the Zambian army said the killing was a 'cowardly and barbaric act' perpetrated by South Africa. He alleged that this was South Africa's response to the increasing effectiveness of liberation movements.

    The leader of the Black Africa Student Organisation, Mr. Abraham Tiro, died in a parcel bomb explosion in Botswana on February 1st.
