    ORGANISERS OF THE 1964 WINTER OLYMPICS ARE A "LITTLE WORRIED" ABOUT THE POOR SNOW CONDITIONS AT INNSBRUCK WHERE THE GAMES ARE DUE TO START IN THREE WEEKS' TIME. AT PRESENT PRACTICE IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE AND TOO DANGEROUS IN ANY CASE BECAUSE OF LACK OF SNOW.

    MEANWHILE, SHORTAGE OF SNOW HAS RESTRICTED OTHER EVENTS IN WEST GERMANY, WHERE A SERIES OF INTERNATIONAL SKI RACES NOW BEING HELD, ARE PROVIDING VALUABLE TEST RUNS FOR THE OLYMPICS. THE INTERNATIONAL SKI FEDERATION IS DRAWING UP A RATING LIST BASED ON PERFORMANCES IN THESE EVENTS WHICH WILL BE THE BASIS FOR STARTING POSITIONS AT THE WINTER GAMES.

    THE ORGANISERS HAVE BEEN CARTING SNOW TO THE COURSE FOR THE SLALOM EVENTS.
