MR. KELLOU AND MR. DJOUDI ARE IN LONDON TO CONTACT AFRO-ASIAN LEADERS ATTENDING THE CURRENT CONFERENCE OF COMMONWEALTH PRIME MINISTERS. MOST WERE SCHEDULED TO ATTEND THE ALGIERS CONFERENCE. BUT A NUMBER HAVE ALREADY CANCELLED PLANS TO ATTEND, OTHERS HAVE POSTPONED THEIR DECISION ON ATTENDING UNTIL THEY HAVE A CLEARER PICTURE OF THE SITUATION IN ALGERIA AFTER THE COUP LAST WEEKEND IN WHICH MR. BEN BELLA WAS DEPOSED AS PRESIDENT.

MR. KELLOU SAID THAT HE BELIEVED HE AND MR. DJOUDI HAD SUCCEEDED IN PERSUADING SOME DELEGATES TO GO AHEAD WITH PLANS TO ATTEND THE AFRO-ASIAN MEETING.
