    Background: Talks begin at Evian, on the shores of Lake Geneva, May 20, between the Algerian rebels (FLN) and French Government representatives to try to solve the seven-year-old Algerian war.

    The rebels will stay at a villa in Geneva, and travel to Evian by helicopter. The talks are being held in the Hotel du Parc.

    More than 1,000 police are ready to guard the lakeside resort - and an estimated 600 newsmen will be on hand. Strict security is being en??? enforced, and all Press passes were checked when journalists and cameramen want to see the villa, May 18, where the rebel leaders are staying.
