  • Description

Hungary's President Pal Losonczi has returned home after a week-long official visit to Congo-Brazzaville.

At the end of the visit on Monday (13 Dec.) he and President Ngouabi issued a joint communique pledging that Hungary and the Congo would cooperate in all spheres, and would support each other in their common struggle against "imperialism and neo-imperialism."
The communique rejected categorically the Anglo-Rhodesian agreement -- and also condemned "Israeli aggression against the Arab people."
Before signing the joint communique at Brazzaville's Palais de L'Amitie, the two presidents placed a wreath on the monument at the Place de la Liberte.

SYNOPSIS: Arriving at the Place de la Liberte in Brazzaville -- President Losonczi of Hungary and his host, President Ngouabi of Congo-Brazzaville. They arrived to place a wreath on the national monument towards the end of President Losonczi's week-long visit to the Congo.

The two presidents had extensive talks during the visit -- talks which resulted in the signing of three agreements. They covered commercial exchanges, technical cooperation, and cultural and scientific cooperation. They also prompted an invitation to President Ngouabi to visit Hungary - at a date yet to be set.

From the Place de la Liberte -- a short drive for the two presidents to the Palais de l'Amitie for the signing of the final joint communique on Monday.

The communique pledged both Hungary and the Congo to cooperate in all spheres, and to support each other in what they see as their common struggle against imperialism and neo-imperialism. The communique makes specific mention of the Anglo-Rhodesian settlement: it rejects it categorically.

The two presidents were in agreement about a number of other international questions as well. They condemned Israel for what they describe as its "aggression" against the Arab people -- and demanded a complete American troop withdrawal from South-East Asia.
