    MORE THAN 3-THOUSAND PEOPLE ATTENDED THE FUNERAL SERVICE IN MUNICH TODAY (WEDNESDAY, FEB. 18TH) OF SEVEN ELDERLY JEWS WHO DIED WHEN AN OLD PEOPLES' HOME WAS DELIBERATELY SET ON FIRE LAST WEEK.

    AMONG THE MOURNERS WAS THE WEST GERMAN PRESIDENT, HERR GUSTAV HEINEMANN.

    THE MOURNERS STOOD IN THE SNOW AT THE JEWISH CEMETERY TO HEAR PRAYERS RELAYED OVER LOUDSPEAKERS FROM THE CHAPEL. ONLY 2-HUNDRED PEOPLE WITH SPECIAL INVITATIONS WERE ALLOWED INTO THE TINY CHAPEL.

    NEXT TO THE SEVEN PLAIN WOODEN COFFINS LAY ANOTHER....THAT OF ISRAELI ENGINEER ARIE KATZENSTEIN, WHO DIED IN LAST WEEK'S GRENADE ATTACK ON ISRAELI TRAVELLERS AT THE MUNICH AIRPORT.

    TWO OF THE EIGHT DEAD ARE TO BE BURIED IN BAVARIA BUT OTHERS ARE TO BE TAKEN BACK TO ISRAEL FOR BURIAL.

    THE MANY FLORAL TRIBUTES AT THE CEMETERY WERE DOMINATED BY A HUGE WREATH FROM PRESIDENT HEINEMANN AND THE WEST GERMAN GOVERNMENT.

    THE SERVICE WAS ATTENDED BY WEST GERMAN AND BAVARIAN POLITICAL LEADERS AND LEADERS OF JEWISH COMMUNITIES IN WEST GERMANY.

    A SPECIAL POLICE COMMISSION IS INVESTIGATING THE FATAL FIRE.
