    A crowd of 60,000 spectators watched Londoner John Surtees on an MV Augusta score a double victory in the 31st international Ulster Grand Prix on the Dundrod Circuit near Belfast, N.Ireland, Aug 8. He repeated his feat of the previous year by winning both the 500cc and 350cc events.

    In the 350cc class he reached an average speed of 91.32 mph. He held the lead from the start and twice broke the lap record, finally raising it to 93.02 mph on his fifth lap. His time was one hour 37min 27secs. B. Brown and G.Duke on Norton took second and third places.

    Surtees was again an easy winner in the 500cc event - one hour 33min 24secs at an average speed of 95.28 mph. Second was R.McIntyre, third G. Duke, both on Norton.

    The 25-year-old world motor-cycling champion has had an unbroken run of twenty-three Grand Prix victories.
