  • Description

STIRLING MOSS, THE FAMOUS BRITISH RACING DRIVER, MIGHT NOT FULL USE OF HIS LEFT ARM AND LEG, SAID A MAY 8 BULLETIN FROM THE ATKINSON MORLEY'S HOSPITAL, WIMBLEDON, LONDON, WHERE MOSS IS RECOVERING AFTER INJURIES RECEIVED IN A 100 M.P.H. CRASH AT GOODWOOD APRIL 23.

HE IS NOW REPORTED OUT OF DANGER, BUT A BRAIN INJURY HAS LEFT A MARKED WEAKNESS DOWN HIS LEFT SIDE. THE BULLETIN SAID THE WEAKNESS IS NOT ASSOCIATED WITH THE FRACTURES OF THE LEFT ARM AND LEG, BUT IS DUE TO SEVERE BRUISING OF THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE BRAIN. RECOVERY FROM THE BRAIN DAMAGE IS LIKELY TO BE A SLOW PROCESS, THE BULLETIN CONTINUED, AND THERE IS THE POSSIBILITY THAT FULL RECOVERY OF FUNCTION IN THE ARM AND LEG WILL NOT TAKE PLACE.

WHETHER MOSS WILL EVER RACE AGAIN IS NOW BEING QUESTIONED. HIS MOTHER AND FATHER BELIEVE IT IS TOO EARLY TO SAY. BUT THE POSSIBILITY IS ACCEPTED BY HIS RACING SPONSOR, MR. ROB WALKER, WHO HAD THIS TO SAY AFTER VISITING MOSS, MAY 8:-
