    Some of the last refugees from communist captured areas in the north of South Vietnam have made their way to Hue, the ancient capital predicted to be the next scene of battle in the current North Vietnamese offensive. They made their way down. Highway One from north of the My Chanh River. Meanwhile, the South Vietnamese have attempted to strengthen the defenses around Hue. On a hill top about 20 miles north west of Hue, tanks and artillery have been drawn up to face the advancing North Vietnamese. This is the closest South Vietnamese position to communist controlled areas. Its manned by members of the ninth Battalion who covered the South Vietnamese retreat from quang Tri. In Hue itself,the city is assuming a mere normal lock. In the market place food is more readily available, although at very high prices. However, the population, including refugees, is only about 30 percent of the normal number. Many people have leaded south for Da Nang, where they feel safer.
