    Britain's Derek Ibbotson, the world mile record-holder finished last of the 37 entrants in a 5 1/2 mile cross-country race in Brussels, on Sunday (Nov 17).

    Held at the Evere military airfield, the race - known as the Criterium of the Aces was won by Franio Mihalic of Yugoslavia, in 30 minutes 5 secs.

    Frans Herman of Belgium was second and Basil Heatley of Britain, third. Belgium's 'A' team took the team prize with Britain second.

    After Heatley, British finishers were; Hugh Foord (8th), and Arthur Chorlton (19th).

    The ground was very heavy and the race was run in thick fog. Ibbotson stayed with the leaders for the first mile but soon fell back. Heatley was in front until the fourth lap when Mihalic took a big lead which he held until the end.
