The Soviet Union has put another spaceship into orbit. The craft, Soyuz-7, with three astronauts on board blasted off the launching pad on October 12th at 13:34 Moscow time.
The commander of the Soyuz-7 is Lieutenant Colonel Anatoly Filipchenko. The flight engineer is Vladislav Volkov and research engineer is Victor Gorbatko.
The astronauts are the carry out a wide range of scientific and technical research and experiments in the space around the earth. These include manoeuvering in orbit, joint studies in a group flight with the Soyuz-6 spacecraft launched on Saturday, observation of celestial bodies and measuring solar light intensity.
The Soyuz-7 spacecraft has successfully passed the ascent stage. Normal conditions are maintained in the command and orbital modules. The crew are feeling fine. The crews of both Soyuz-6 and Soyuz-7 spacecraft have established reliable two-way rafio contact.
