The new Indian High Commissioner to Ghana, Mr. Shardul Bikram Shah, last Wednesday (June 14) presented his credentials in Accra to Colonel Ignatius Acheampong, Chairman of the ruling National Redemption Council. His credentials were among the first received by Colonel Acheampong since he assumed office following the coup of January the 13th which overthrew the government of Dr. Kofi Busia.
SYNOPSIS: India's new High Commissioner to Ghana presents his credentials in Accra. Mr. Shardul Bikram Shah was met by officials of the Foreign Affairs Ministry, including the Principal Secretary, Mr. Osei Tutu.
His credentials were among the first received by the chairman of the National Redemption Council of Ghana, Colonel Ignatius Acheampong, since he took office in January.
In his welcome speech, Colonel Acheampong said Ghana deeply valued its relationship with india, which transcended geographical barriers and which had stood the test of time. The High Commissioner said India and Ghana had gone through similar historical experiences and each adhered to the ideals of non-alignment, peaceful co-existence and Afro-Asian solidarity.
