  • Description

One of the lighter moments of the Queen's visit to Canada occurred on the lawn of Prime Minister's residence following a luncheon. At this informal ceremony the government presented personal gifts to the Royal couple. The Queen received a chess set, carved by eskimoes, but the present for Prince Phillip attracted the most attention. Its an amphibious hunting craft known as a Penguin. Although the Prince was curious, he declined to test drive it. When a volunteer gave a demonstration, both the Queen and Prince Phillip bursts into smiles.
