Background: The Egyptian Foreign Minister, Dr. Hassan El-Zayyat, carrying Cairo's diplomatic peace offensive to Asian capitals, met President Zulfikar Ali Bhutto on Friday (16 March).
Dr. El-Zayyat arrived in Pakistan with a four-member delegation earlier in the day, from The People's Republic of China. Previously he had visited India.
The Foreign Minister told reporters on his arrival at the airport that he would discuss with President Bhutto matters that 'concern both our countries.'
He added, 'It will be very important to have consultations between our two countries, because we are both passing through a difficult period.'
SYNOPSIS: President Zulfikar Ali Bhutto held talks with visiting Egyptian Foreign Minister Dr. Hassan El-Zayyat in Rawalpindi on Friday. The Foreign Minister had arrived in Pakistan a few hours before to begin a three-day visit to the country. The visit marks another stage in Egypt's diplomatic peace offensive in Asian capitals. Dr. El-Zayyat had previously been to India and The People's Republic of China.
After Pakistan, the Egyptian emissary will visit Iran, Iraq, and Syria.
