Background: One Thousand Students belonging to the Pro-Indira Gandhi Congress launched a mass civil disobedience movement in West Bengal from today to protest against the West Bengal Police softness towards the communist party specially the Marxists to encourage the Marxists to act against the progressive government led by Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The Congress Students alleged that the Marxists are now active and creating troubles in the state of West Bengal particularly in Calcutta under indirect support of present Police Administration. The Demonstrators warned the West Bengal Administration to take immediate step to check this favouritism towards the Marxists. They also alleged that during the last United Front Government the Police was under the Marxist Minister MR. Jyoti Basu and since then the Police officials are acting under Marxist's indirect instruction. The Congress Students sent a deputation to Mr. B.B. Ghosh the Principal Advisor to The Governor of West Bengal prior to their court arrest. Today 52 students were court arrested when they broke the cordon at Dalhousie Squire this afternoon. While the students were being arrested and putting in to police vans they were shouting "BANDE MATARAM" slogans the original slogans of the Indian Congress. The onlookers watched the Congress students agitation and Heard "Bande Mataram"slogans after a long decade.
