    Background: The SEATO manoeuvre called "OPERATION VAYUBUT" officially starts with a ceremony at the Royal Thai Army Conference Hall in Bangkok where General Tanom Kittikachorn, Prime Minister and concurrently Minister of Defence initiates the launching of this important exercise which is under Thai command and direction headed by Air Chief Marshal Davao Chulasap. Through-out the manoeuvre in the field north of Bangkok, His majesty King Phumipol Aduldet, Supremo Commander of the Thai forces, has personally taken part and observed the operation performed by field forces of over 32,000 men and officers supported by SEATO air-power and all kinds of modern equipment. The exercise has met with full success and ended on April 25 with a good show by the SEATO airforce.
