    Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother - concluding her tour of the Northern Rhodesia copper belt - May 21 drove through Wusiliki, populous township of the Nkana copper mine, to present new colours to the 1st Battalion The Northern Rhodesia Regiment. About 10,000 Africans and 2,000 Whites watched the ceremony.

    In her address, Her Majesty said: "Your motto, which means 'Different in race but equal in faith' underlines the spirit of comradeship and mutual respect which I know has always existed in the regiment".

    Later, the Queen Mother flew to Lusaka, Northern Rhodesia's capital, to unveil a statue in honour of Cecil Rhodes, founded of Rhodesia. Her visit to the Federation ends May 30.
