    FROM AN AIRPORT IN AUGSBURG, GERMANY YESTERDAY (SUNDAY) 99 AIRCRAFT OF 12 NATIONS TOOK OFF ON THE FOUR-DAY EUROPEAN AIR TOUR. THE COMPETITION IS ORGANISED BY THE INTERNATIONAL FEDERATION OF AERONAUTICS IN PAIRS, BUT COURSE DETAILS WERE DRAWN UP BY THE AUSTRIAN AERO CLUB.

    THE TOUR TAKES COMPETITORS VIA GRAZ IN AUSTRIA TO BELGRADE, THESSALONIKI AND ATHENS. IN THE GREEK CAPITAL ON WEDNESDAY THE PRIZES WILL BE DISTRIBUTED.

    AMONG THE PILOTS ARE PRINCE LOUIS FERDINAND AND THE FAMOUS GERMAN WOMAN PILOT, ELLY BEINHORN.

    AT THE FIVE AERODROMES ON WHICH THE PLANES WILL TOUCH DOWN PILOTS WILL BE JUDGED ON LANDING TECHNIQUES. THERE'LL BE SPOT LANDING, ASSESSMENTS OF AN AREA MARKED OUT AS A FORCED LANDING STRIP AND ENROUTE THE IDENTIFICATION OF BUILDINGS AND PARTS OF THE LANDSCAPE.

    THE WINNER OF EACH DAY'S COMPETITION WILL WEAR THE "BLUE GLOVES" OF THE IFA AND THE OVERALL TOUR WINNER WILL BE AWARDED THE "SILVER JOYSTICK".
