Background: During the second day of his three-day state visit to Britain the Shah of Persia was filmed by Visnews may 6 as he drove in state from Buckingham Palace to the Guildhall to attend a luncheon with the Lord Mayor and Corporation of London. Later film shows the Shah arriving for a dinner at the Iranian Embassy.

The Shah's procession, escorted by the Household Cavalry, was a splendid show of pageantry. Spectators densely crowded the route and Britain's capital recorded some of the year's worst traffic jams in the City and parts of Central London.

At the Guildhall the "King of Kings" in his heavily decorated dark blue uniform was welcomed to the City of London by Lord Mayor Sir Harold Gillett and presented with a casket containing the address of welcome. The Shah replied with a short speech in excellent English.

In the red-and-white hung Royal retiring room the Lord mayor showed the Shah a carved head of Mithras, the ancient Persian God of Light, found during the excavations in Walbrook, and a silver vessel used in one of the Mithric rites.

In the evening the Shah of Persia entertained Queen Elizabeth and the Duke of Edinburgh at a dinner at the Iranian Embassy in London.
