    Diane Fromholtz of Australia won on Saturday (19 May) the women's singles final of the Rothman's Hard Court Tennis Championships at Surrey, England.

    The sixteen-year-old lefthander beat Kazuma Sawamatsu of Japan in straight-- 7-5, 6-3.

    The match was halted because of rain in the first set, with Miss Fromholtz down 3-5. After the 25-minute interruption, the Australian stormed back to win the next seven games and the next set with comparative ease.

    Miss Fromholtz will play in this year's Wimbledon tennis Championships.
