  • Description

As the nineteenth anniversary of the Geneva agreement which partitioned Vietnam, passed, the fight for control of the South continues.

In the Phu Giao district in Binh Duong province 25 miles (40 klms) northeast of Saigon, South Vietnamese Government troops have been trying to prevent the Vietcong from increasing their control. The troops sent in to search a suspected Vietcong hideout on the 19th and 20th July found several bunkers and trenches.

The agreement on partition, signed by the French and the Viet Minh on July 21st, 1954, ended French involvement in Vietnam. American involvement was drastically reduced earlier this year when the American troops were pulled out, but the fight in the south goes on.
