    UNITED STATES TROOPS STATIONED IN KOREA JOINED KOREANS IN MOURNING THE DEATH OF GENERAL MACARTHUR THIS WEEK. GENERAL MACARTHUR PLAYED A PROMINENT PART IN THE KOREAN WAR IN 1950 AND ALSO LEAD THE FORCES THAT DROVE THE JAPANESE FORCES FROM KOREA IN 1945.

    ON THE 7 APRIL A SPECIAL PARADE WAS HELD AT THE UNITED NATIONS HEADQUARTERS AND A NINETEEN GUN SALUTE WAS FIRES.

    MEANWHILE AT THE KYUNG-BOK PALACE MOURNERS LAID WREATHS AT THE FOOT OF THE STATUE OF GENERAL MACARTHUR. A SPECIAL PART OF DOWN-TOWN SEOUL WAS SET ASIDE FOR PUBLIC MOURNING AND MANY PEOPLE STOOD IN SILENCE BEFORE THE PORTRAIT OF THE GENERAL WHO DIED EARLIER THIS WEEK.
