    CURRENT NIGERIAN FASHIONS WERE PRESENTED IN LONDON TODAY (WEDNESDAY) IN A DISPLAY AT NIGERIA HOUSE. PRESENTING THE FASHIONS WAS MISS JULIE COKER, A NIGERIAN TELEVISION PERSONALITY.

    AMONG THE FASHIONS DISPLAYED WERE AN IRO (WRAPPER) AND BUBA (BLOUSE) MADE FROM HANDWOVEN BROWN OKENE CLOTH WITH DESIGNS IN BEIGE SILK.

    A DAY DRESS MADE FROM TIE AND DYE MATERIAL WAS ANOTHER OF THE FASHION MODES MODELLED AT THE SHOW. TWO FORMS OF THE SAME DRESS WERE MODELLED. ONE WAS IN THE ORIGINAL COLOUR OF INDIGO WITH AFRICAN MOTIFS; THE OTHER WAS SIMILAR, BUT ORANGE-COLOURED. AN ADIRE BUBA AND IRO, MADE OF TIE AND DYE MATERIAL FROM ABEOKUTA IN WESTERN STATE, WAS DISPLAYED BY A EUROPEAN MODEL.

    A FLOWING GOWN, CALLED A LABALABA (BUTTERFLY), WAS ALSO MODELLED. MADE FROM TIE AND DYE FROM ABEOKUTA - ADIRE - THE GOWN WAS IN BROWN, NAVY BLUE AND WHITE.

    MEN'S SHIRTS AND JACKETS MADE FROM NIGERIAN FABRICS WAS ALSO ON DISPLAY.

    THE EXHIBITION OF NIGERIAN FASHIONS HAS ALSO BEEN HELD IN WASHINGTON, D.C. AND NEW YORK CITY IN THE UNITED STATES, GENEVA, SWITZERLAND AND MUNICH, WEST GERMANY.
