    The United States has now moved its Saigon evacuation airlift to the Pacific island of Guam which has been told to expect up to 50,000 Vietnamese refugees.

    Until now, Clark Air Base in the Philippines has been the main reception point for american and Vietnamese refugees from Saigon. One-thousand-four-hundred arrived yesterday (Wednesday) from Saigon but most of the seven-thousand now at Clark will eventually go on to Guam or home to the United States.

    Since the airlift began on April 4th, a total of 10,000 orphans and evacuees have passed through Clark base. Temporary quarters for them has been dubbed "Tent City".

    Although only 600 refugees were flown to Guam yesterday, the daily figure is expected to reach 5,000 from now on. They'll be housed at Anderson Air Force Base, the support field for the 1972 bombing of Hanoi.

    According to Saigon reports, only one-thousand-five-hundred Americans remain in south Vietnam awaiting evacuation.
