  • Description

    ... Pablo Picasso...

This photograph meets the visitors to the Moscow exhibition staged by the big Pushkin Fine Arts Museum.

Seventy graphic works belonging to the museum are on display. Some of them have already been shown to the public while many other newly acquired works are being exhibited for the first time. Many of the new exhibits have been presented to the museum by Madame Leger, the widow of the well-known French painter Konveiler, a friend of Picasso's. The splendid collection of the Soviet writer Erenburg has also enriched the museum's exhibits.

The works cover a period ranging from the turn of the century up to 1969. Graphic art has always played a big role in Picasso's creative activities. He has produced over the decades thousands of drawings, engravings, etchings and lithographs.

Though Moscow exposition is not large, it gives an idea of Picasso's wide range of interests, his search for new forms, the superb craftsmanship of the most prominent artist of the present century
