Singapore's world famous Raffles Hotel was the scene of an international Christmas party on December 9. Arriving in 9 buses all over the island, 500 orphan children from social welfare community centres joined in the fun.
The party was organized by the multi-racial Hans Anderson Club, an organisation whose aim is to help under-privileged children to enjoy the world around them.
Inside were Chinese, Danish, American, Australian and English women - all joined together in helping Chinese, Malay and Indian children enjoy themselves. For many of them it was the first time they had ever been to a party of this kind.
While clowns provided the entertainment. mask,s chocolates and ice cream donated by local firms were handed out.
Contributions came from Australia and Japan. From Australian firms came 500 apples and 500 cartons of honey. From Japan came twelve lanterns specially made for the occasion and flowers to Singapore.
But perhaps the highlight of the whole party came when 250 Australian Koala Bears were given to the boys.
