  • Description

Former King Kigeri of Rwanda has called on his countrymen living in Uganda to support General Amin's Government.

The ex-king addressed representatives of the estimated 100,000 Rwandan refugees on Wednesday(6 December) at the international conference centre in Kampala, capital of Uganda.

Refugees from Rwanda have in the past been accused of carrying out subversive activities against their country from within Uganda.

The ex-king told the refugees that subversive letters had been written, purporting to have come from himself, He had denied all knowledge of the letters in discussions with General Amin.

There was a danger that the letters could damage the friendly relations at present between the two countries, he said.

He urged all refugees to report anyone who might be connected with sending the letters.

The former ruler thanked General Amin, his government and the people of Uganda for accepting his countrymen and felt sure his former subjects would not let him down.
