  • Description

Several students and at least one policeman were hurt when the two sides clashed in an anti-war rally yesterday in Copenhagen. The demonstration, one of the biggest seen in the Danish capital, began with a march on the United States embassy.

More than 5,000 people, most of them students, took part in the demonstration. They were protesting about United States policy in South Vietnam and the new campaign in Cambodia.

Outside the embassy building, there was trouble when demonstrators began throwing stones and bottles at the ranks of 400 policemen standing guard. The police drew their batons and forced the protesters to withdraw. Several people were arrested.

One demonstrator, apparently injured in the melee, talked to a reporter before he was hauled away by the police.
