Background: The sixteen race horses entered in this year's Kentucky Derby--the premier event of the U.S. horse racing season--were on the track for their final work outs before the big race at Churchill Downs on Saturday (May 5).
Riva Ridge, a Virginia-bred bay colt who has lost only three races in his spectacular career, is one of the hottest favourites in the Derby's 98-year history.
One colt picked to run well against Riva Ridge is No Le Hace--Spanish for "It makes no difference." He's won four big races, including the Louisiana and Arkansas derbies.
Another choice was Hassi's Image, trained by Venezuelan Juan aires who won the Derby last year with Canonero II.
Hold Your Peace, which won the opening day feature at Churchill Downs, was also among the favourites to win.
