    THE NEWLY-WON TRUCE BETWEEN WHITE BUSINESSMAN AND NEGRO LEADERS IN BIRMINGHAM, ALABAMA, IN AMERICA'S DEEP SOUTH, WAS RUDELY SHATTERED EARLY YESTERDAY (SUNDAY) WHEN A MOTEL AND A HOUSE OCCUPIED BY NEGRO LEADERS WERE SEVERELY DAMAGED BY BOMB BLASTS.THE EXPLOSIONS TRIGGERED OFF RIOTS IN WHICH HUNDREDS OF ENRAGED NEGROES FOUGHT BATTLES WITH POLICE USING KNIVES, BRICKS AND PIECES OF WOOD.ORDER WAS RESTORED AFTER THREE HOURS AND SOME 50 PEOPLE HAD BEEN INJURED.

    ONE OF THE BOMB ATTACKS WAS ON THE HOUSE IN THE NEGRO DISTRICT OF BIRMINGHAM OCCUPIED BY DR.A.D.KING BROTHER OF NEGRO INTEGRATION LEADER, MARTIN LUTHER KING.DR.KING WAS IN BED READING WHEN THE BLASTS OCCURRED.HIS FIVE CHILDREN WERE IN THE BACK OF THE HOUSE AND WERE UNHARMED.

    STANDING OUTSIDE HIS WRECKED HOUSE, DR.KING MENTIONED THE KU KLUX KLAN, THE EXTREMIST WHITE ORGANIZATION WHICH HAD HELD A MEETING OUTSIDE BIRMINGHAM SHORTLY BEFORE THE BOMBING.HE ALSO REFERRED TO GOVERNOR WALLACE OF ALABAMA, MAYOR HAINES AND POLICE COMMISSIONER EUGENE ("BULL") CONNOR.
