SYNOPSIS: A five year boycott by the People's Republic of China of the Korean Military Armistice Commission has ended. A delegate for China took his seat at Panmunjom yesterday following a thaw in relations between China and North Korea.

China's withdrawal from the Commission came shortly after North Korea declared an independent position in the Sino-Soviet dispute which led to strained relations between Pyongyang and Peking.

Relations started improving from last year when Chinese Premier Chou En Lai paid an official visit to North Korea. When the delegate took his seat, the United States' delegation leader raised the question of the new delegate's credentials since they did not set out his military, rank, but did not press for his withdrawal.
