  • Description

Continuing South Africa's 'follow-on' second innings, McGlew and Endean took the field at Wanderers Cricket Stadium, Johannesburg, Feb 11 for the fourth day's play in the fourth Test cricket match against Australia.

Soon after lunch Endean was caught by Simpson off Benaud. Goddard was another Simpson victim, caught for a 'duck'. South Africa's score was then 78 for one wicket.

Funston then came on to partner McGlew in the fight for vitally needed runs. However, it seemed that apathy had set in, the pace was very slow.

Play was stopped just before tea owing to bad light and rain with Funston and McGlew not out. Umpires decided later that the light was again satisfactory, and play was resumed. At tea break the score was 89 for two, McGlew 40 and Funston 3.

Bad light eventually terminated the day's play with Funston and McGlew still 'stonewalling' bowling from Kline and Benaud. Total score was then 126.
