Background: A six day conference to discuss the role of education in rural development in Africa has been opened in Nairobi. The conference has been jointly organised by UNICEF and UNESCO. Representing UNICEF is Doctor A.T. Porter from Sierra Leone. During Mr. Rubia, warned that if the exodus by the young from the rural areas to the cities wasn't halted through education it would lead to high unemployment.
